Mark Brenchley is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Exeter. His main interests lie in the nature of grammatical knowledge, focusing on its acquisition and later development within a wider framework of communicative competence, and on the use of corpus-based techniques to better understand such development. He is currently working on the Growth in Grammar project, which aims to provide a systematic map of grammatical development in English children’s writing.
