Jean-Loïc Le Quellec is Emeritus Research Director at the Institut des Mondes africains at the CNRS. He studies the development of mythologies and their manifestations in prehistoric images. In particular, he specializes in the rock images of the African continent. Le Quellec has published some 400 articles and 40 books, including Rock Art in Africa: Mythology and Legend, The White Lady and Atlantis: Ophir and Great Zimbabwe: Investigation of an Archaeological Myth, and, with Bernard Sergent, the Dictionnaire critique de mythologie.
