Parameswaran Nair

Parameswaran Nair is a Distinguished Professor of Physics at the City College of New York, where he does research on theoretical high energy physics. He received his PhD from Syracuse University and has held research associate and faculty member positions at the Institute for Advanced Study, the Institute for Theoretical Physics at Santa Barbara, and Columbia University. He held visiting professorships at the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics, Rockefeller University, the Institute for Advanced Study, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the author of two books on quantum field theory and on particle physics.

Physics In Memoriam: Myriam Sarachik [long_description] Myriam Sarachik passed away on October 7, 2021. Her work on the Kondo effect, the metal-insulator transition, and quantum tunneling in molecular magnets are highlights in her research career. But her lifetime of first-rate work was realized in the face of great adversity. She was a totem of not only scientific excellence, but also of the perseverance of the human spirit.
