Shellen Wu

Shellen Wu is Associate Professor of History at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She studies the history of science in modern China and how changes in the uses and exploitation of natural resources affected the modern Chinese state and society. Her book Empires of Coal: Fueling China’s Entry into the Modern World Order, 1860–1920 is published with Stanford University Press in the Weatherhead East Asian Institute Publication series.
